An Allentown man's best friend will be forever known as a lifesaver.
Richard Sicher suffered a diabetic episode last night, and he's alive thanks to his dog Bubba.
Bubba is a quiet and sometimes skittish dog.
His owner Sherry Sicher says Bubba doesn't bark too often.
That is until Monday night after she went to bed.
"He starts barking, and barking, and barking," said Sherry Sicher.
Sherry wears hearing aids and takes them out at night.
Her husband, Richard, was in the bathroom taking a shower.
Sherry and Bubba were in the bedroom with the door closed.
"And I said Bubba stop it," added Sherry Sicher. "But he kept barking."
Bubba kept barking until Sherry came out of her bedroom to check on her husband.
When she came into the bathroom, she found Richard slumped over in the shower.
"I was just shocked that he knew that," said Sherry. "I don't know if my husband was calling me that he responded that way or I don't know if he knew something was wrong."
"When your sugar goes down like that," added Richard Sicher. "I didn't know anything I did or anything that happened."
Richard Sicher suffered a diabetic episode.
His blood sugar was too low and he lost consciousness.
Richard is recovering at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Three years ago the Sicher's rescued Bubba the day he was supposed to be put down.
Now the rescued, has become the rescuer.
"It's a miracle," said Sherry. "Because like I said if he wouldn't have woken me up who knows what would have happened."
"I just love the both of them," added Richard. "They're two good ones. I got the world's best wife and the world's best dog."
And both can't wait for Richard to come home.
