ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Lehigh County dog owners will want to make sure their dog's county license is up to date.

Pennsylvania Dog Law Enforcement plans to go door to door to make sure dogs have a current 2013 county dog license.

The canvas will take place during the coming weeks in Lehigh County.

Those who don't have a current license may face a citation or fine of $100-$500 or imprisonment of up to 90 days, or both.

Dog licenses are due January 1 each year, and expire Dec. 31.

Lifetime licenses are available for your pet, but require purchasing a tattoo or microchip.

For more information, call the county treasurer's office at 610-782-3112.
