A Northampton County deer farm is now under quarantine to prevent an outbreak of "chronic wasting disease."

A Northampton County deer farm is now under quarantine to prevent an outbreak of "chronic wasting disease."

Officials say a white-tailed deer, originally from Birch Creek Deer Farm in Walnutport, tested positive for the disease after its death.

This is the seventh known case of the deadly disease reported in Pennsylvania since 2012.

U.S. health officials say the disease only affects animals with antlers and say there's no evidence it poses any threat to humans.
