Quick work made of Exeter Township fire

EXETER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

Fire crews in Exeter Township, Berks County made quick work of a house fire Saturday morning.

It broke out just before 10am Saturday in the 200 block of Schoffers Road.

Officials said when the first crews arrived to the scene, there was a fully involved fire in a rec room that is also used as a weight room in the home.  Shrubbery and leaves outside the home were also burning, officials said.

The Exeter Township Fire Chief said crews made a good, aggressive attack on the flames and it was quickly extinguished.

Two adults, a child, and three dogs made it out of the home safely, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Exeter Township Fire Marshal's office.
