Copper stolen from company near Shoemakersville, police say

PERRY TWP., Pa. -

State police are searching for the person or persons who took copper from an electric company in the Shoemakersville area of Berks County.

Someone broke into a trailer and took the copper from M.J. Electric in the 1000 block of Shoemaker Avenue, near the border between Shoemakersville and Perry Township, police said.

The thief or thieves loaded the copper, reported to be worth as much as $9,000, onto a vehicle and took off through a field sometime between Dec. 18 and Jan. 11, police said.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
