COOPERSBURG, Pa. -

From one side of the law to the other: a police chief in Lehigh County wants to be a magistrate judge.

Coopersburg Police Chief Daniel C. Trexler has announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District Court 31-3-03m serving Upper Saucon and Lower Milford townships and the borough of Coopersburg.

The position is being vacated by retiring District Judge David B. Harding.

Trexler is a graduate of the Allentown Police Academy and has been an officer on the Coopersburg police force since 1995, and its chief since 2000.

According to a release, Trexler said he has conducted summary trials as the prosecuting officer, has testified countless times as a witness and has experience in the criminal justice system.
