Clothing drive for victims of fire

Tuesday's raging fire destroyed a favorite restaurant in Forks Township. Folks who worked there are now out of jobs, and nearly two-dozen people who watched their lives go up in flames now have to start over. In all this darkness, people who live in the area are coming together to help those people get back on their feet.
"I guess I didn't think about it," said Rachel Joyce holding back tears. "It was just a matter of something had to be done for these people."
And she didn't hesitate. Joyce helped organize a collection drive to help the people displaced by Tuesday's fire at Mineral Springs Bar and Grill.
"I've worked at Mineral Springs, they've been my friends and my family for many years," explained Joyce. "You have to remember, these people woke up the next day without a toothbrush to brush their teeth, I mean that's pretty devastating."
At least seven families were forced from their homes, including three children. People stopping to donate were given a warm welcome by volunteers. Bags and boxes were unloaded, and as the night went on the piles of clothes, toys and toiletries continued to grow.
"I just kind of went through my whole house, stuffed the car and came, because it's important," shared Liz Shook.
Everything dropped off was sorted so it can be handed out to the displaced tenants Friday at the Lower Mount Bethel Fire Company.
"It makes me feel really good," said Destiny Loxley. "Because I get to help more people just like they helped us when we had our house fire."
Besides the donation drive, a benefit is being planned for November 2nd at the Bangor VFW.
"We'll have bands and food and raffles and people can come and go," described Joyce. "Every penny between the raffle and the door will go to the victims and the tenets of the fire."
