In typical Chris Chrisite fashion, the New Jersey governor has a straightforward message about the Labor Day weekend: "the water's safe, head to the shore."

In typical Chris Chrisite fashion, the New Jersey governor has a straightforward message about the Labor Day weekend: "the water's safe, head to the shore."

Christie is hoping to drum up business at the Jersey Shore for the holiday weekend.

During a stop in Long Branch, the governor relied on statistics to reassure sunbathers who may be skeptical about the Hurricane Sandy cleanup.

"99.7 percent of our beaches were open with clean water and a safe place to put your blanket or your chair, to play volleyball or any other game you wanted to play on the beach," said Christie.

While the beaches are ready for visitors many of the state's shore communities are still without protective dunes.

The governor admits towns won't be safe from extreme weather until these dunes are in place.
