Carbon Co. emergency responders to share $300,000 in state grants

LEHIGHTON, Pa. -

10-year-Nearly three dozen volunteer emergency responders are getting a much-needed infusion of funding.

Rep. Doyle Heffley (D-Carbon) said Monday that more than $310,000 has been awarded to the volunteer fire and emergency response organizations.

The money comes from an ongoing grant program created by the state legislature and handed out by the state's Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

Last fall, lawmakers voted to extend and expand the decade-old program by increasing the total funding from $25 million to $30 million.

Local organizations receiving the grants include:
