HILLTOWN TWP., Pa. -

Police in Bucks County got more than they bargained for when they stopped a car going nearly 100 mph.

Hilltown Twp. police stopped a vehicle on Route 309 near Hilltop Road around 12:15 a.m. Nov. 11.

The driver, Freddie Cardona, 30, of the 300 block of North Jordan Street in Allentown, showed signs of alcohol impairment, police said.

He failed a series of field sobriety tests, police said. Police arrested him and took him for a blood test.

When officers searched the car, they found a loaded .380 caliber handgun with its serial numbers removed, concealing ownership, police said.

Cardona was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, altered/obliterated marks of identification, firearms not to be carried without a license, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence of alcohol and maximum speed limits.
