Bomb squad called to LVH

SALISBURY TWP., Pa. -

Officials weren't taking any chances after a potentially suspicious package was found late Sunday night at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest in Salisbury Twp., Lehigh Co.

The Allentown bomb squad detonated a package in a parking lot at the hospital around midnight.

Police said they were called to investigate a suspicious person around 8:30 p.m. Sunday and then discovered the package between two vehicles.

Officials said the device was not suspicious or criminal in nature.

"The device was rendered safe by the bomb squad, there's no threat, no immediate threat to any staff, patients or anyone that was on the hospital property," said Sgt. Donald Sabo, Salisbury Twp. Police.

Police said the suspicious person was found but that was completely unrelated to the package.

Officials said they don't yet know exactly what was inside the package.

The scene was declared safe and all operations were normal by shortly after midnight, according to Salisbury Twp. police.
