Police are looking for who's responsible for the death of a city man whose body was found in an alley near his home in Allentown.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Police are looking for who's responsible for the death of a city man whose body was found in an alley near his home in Allentown.

John Lebar was found dead in the baker's alley next to his home at 125 S. Penn St. around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

An autopsy on Wednesday showed Lebar, 70, died of blunt force trauma, said the coroner, who ruled his death a homicide.

Neighbors said they noticed Lebar's front door was left wide open for hours Tuesday night. When they went to check on him, they found him under some trash cans.

"I walked back there and checked it out, and that's where he was laying there in the doorway and had these two garbage cans blocking him in," said Kevin Alstin, who was shocked by the discovery. "It's hurtful, just seeing him laying there you know. Here is your next door neighbor and you go back and you find him laying there. You wonder."

The homicide doesn't make sense, said Alstin, adding that other than shoveling his neighbors' sidewalks, Lebar kept to himself. Alstin said he hopes police are able to catch Lebar's killer.

"We are seeking out anyone who has any information whatsoever. We will deem whether the information they have is important or not. We would just appreciate a phone call," said Asst. Chief Joseph Hanna, Allentown Police Dept.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Allentown Police Department at 610-437-7721, 610-437-7751, or 610-439-5911. A text message can also be sent to TIPAPD.
