A best selling author and Reading native was back in town for a special appearance Thursday night.
"I was 6 feet tall, she was much taller. She called me dearie, dearie. It wasn't until later that I found out Julia called everyone dearie including the local beggar and the feral town dog," said Bob Spitz.
Bob Spitz spoke along with his wife and fellow author Becky Aikman at the Jewish Cultural Center of Reading.
Spitz's latest book is called "Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child."
Spitz is also the award winning author of "The Beatles" which is a New York Times best seller.
His wife also has a new book out and the couple wrote them in the same room for three years.
Aikman's book "Saturday Night Widows" came out in January.
