READING, Pa. -

A local company is working to make Reading look more inviting.

Berks Packing is donating $16,000 to spruce up the median triangle at the eastern base of the Bingaman Street Bridge.

Throughout the week, trees and roses will be planted to make the area look nicer.

"This stretch of land here? It's unsightly, and it doesn't have to be that way," said Charles Boylin, CEO, Berks Packing. "Just like we've done over here, made it more presentable to people coming in."

Berks Packing will celebrate its 80th anniversary in April. The company processes meats, including Berks hot dogs.
