Berks Catholic boys prevail in OT; Wilson WL, Oley girls advance
The Berks Catholic boys have had another outstanding season.
However, that doesn't mean a whole lot in their program if they don't play well at this time of year.
Their quest to win a District title started with a win earlier this week. Friday night, the third-seeded Saints had a quarterfinal game with (6) Bishop McDevitt and it was a good one.
Berks Catholic stormed back from a 10-point halftime deficit and forced overtime. In the extra frame, the Saints outscored the Crusaders 6-4 to claim a 58-56 victory.
Nana Foulland had another huge game for BC, scoring a game-high 23 points. Cooper Kutz added 12 for the Saints, who advanced to the District 3 AAA semifinals on Monday where they will meet (2) Donegal at 6:30 in the Giant Center.
In Lebanon, the (2) Wilson West Lawn girls picked up a 55-34 win over (7) Lampeter-Strasburg in a District 3 AAAA quarterfinal game.
The Bulldogs advanced to Tuesday's semifinal game where they will meet (6) Central Dauphin East at 5:00 in the Giant Center.
At Oley, the (3) Lynx defeated division rival (6) Brandywine Heights, 52-35, in a Disrict 3 AA quarterfinal game.
The Lynx led by 7 at halftime, but Oley's Amanda Rizzuti blew the game wide-open, scoring all 17 of her points in the second half. Brandi Vallely scored 15 and Courtney Dunn had 11 for Oley.
Deanna Daddona had 15 points to pace the Bullets.
The Lynx advanced to Monday's semifinal where they will meet (2) Delone Catholic at Penn Manor at 7:30.
