Talk about a conversation piece!
How many people do you know has a grand player piano whose keys are signed by famous singers?
You could have the chance to own this piece of history.
ArtsQuest is marking its second anniversary at SteelStacks, along with the 30th anniversary of Musikfest, with a party on April 26 from 6-10 p.m. at 101 Founders Way in Bethlehem.
The evening will also kick off a nationwide auction of the Musikfest piano--a Young Chang grand player piano whoe keys are signed by more than 50 artists who have performed at the festival over the years.
The piano, which was signed by 52 artists who played at Musikfest between 1998 and 2002, was originally donated by Musikfest official piano and tuning services provider John Zeiner of John J. Zeiner & Sons, and has been on display at Lehigh Valley International Airport since 2004.
Performers whose signatures appear on the piano’s keys include Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Rosemary Clooney, Huey Lewis, Gladys Knight, Robert Cray, Wayne Newton, Kenny Rogers and David Sanborn.
The complete list of artist signatures is available at artsquest.org; details on the auction and bidding options and procedures will be posted online as soon as they are available.
Other items up for bid include one-of-a-kind Musikfest memorabilia and items including front-row tickets to Musikfest 2013 main stage shows including Ke$ha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Darius Rucker and more, as well as framed official Musikfest posters from 2002-’12.
Each poster includes signatures from the headlining artists who appeared at the festival that year.
All proceeds from the event and the auctions will go to support ArtsQuest’s music, arts and education programming for the community, including more than 700 free concerts the nonprofit presents annually.
