Easton is the first city in the region to offer a smartphone app that lists everything from must-see attractions to hair salons.
The project took close to a year of work to put together and was recently launched by the Easton Main Street Initiative.
The app, is a downtown guide which directs users through several selections such as “Eats”, “Retail Therapy”, “To Do”, “Downtown Life”, “Be our guest”, “Events” and “Parking”.
“All the information off our website feeds right into the app so we're able to update the events, update any kind of business listings on our website and they filter right over” said Amy Boccadoro, assistant manager of the Easton Main Street Initiative.
Local business owners like Kari Kirchgessner of Sweet Girlz Bakery said she's pleased the app doesn't cater to one particular service or attraction, “I like that they included all services, not just restaurants and shopping. They included doctor's and dentists and law offices so it's more for residents and for out-of-towners at the same time” she said.
Cara Capobianco regional manager of Mesa Modern Mexican in Easton and Tapas on Main in Bethlehem said “ It has every point that you would be looking for in a city's app...I think we're the first ones to even have one we have a place in Bethlehem and they don't have an app yet so it's pretty exciting for Easton I'm happy for that.”
The app is available for free on iTunes and Google and also has its own QR code which will be displayed by shops downtown.
