Rare Picasso prints, Chagall painting stolen from store

Police in Berks County are trying to track down a burglar with expensive taste.
Picasso prints, a Chagall painting and expensive antiques were stolen from Rhoads' Antiques in the 200 block of Gehringer Road in Washington Township on Tuesday afternoon, said police.
"I had the Chagall right here to the left, and there was a case here about three foot high and maybe about two feet deep," said Bill Rhoads, the owner of the store who wants the person responsible caught immediately.
There is now an empty spot on the wall inside the store where the silk screen Chagall painting once hung. The counter is now bare where an expensive alarm clock was encased, and two Picasso prints are missing, including one dating back to the 1950s, said Rhoads.
According to police, the antique store was burglarized Tuesday between 3 and 4:30 p.m.
"I realized it because the window was busted out and the door was open," said Rhoads.
Rhoads was reportedly gone for only a short time Tuesday, so whoever broke in had to work quickly, he said.
The antique store has been open since 1983. The majority of the items are up for sale, but some pieces are part of the owner's own personal collection.
"Nobody likes to have somebody come in their place when they're not invited," said Rhoads.
In all, Rhoads said he believes about $5,000 worth of items were stolen. The Picasso prints are not original paintings, but he said they were still detailed.
"Burglaries are typical, but items like this being so rare, I'd say is not so typical," said Tpr. John Yount, Pa. State Police.
Rhoads said he thinks he may know who is behind this crime, so now he is working with police and talking with neighbors to try and crack the case.
