It happened two blocks from Dieruff High School, and minutes after the bell rang for the day Friday. Eyewitnesses say the 16-year-old victim was walking down the sidewalk in Allentown when a group attacked him.
"There were just sirens going off everywhere and I seen an ambulance," described Luis Collazo.
Just before 3PM an officer in the area rushed to the scene and found the boy standing on the side of the road stabbed numerous times. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
"He was classified as a class two which would be moderate injuries," explained Joe Hanna, the Assistant Chief of Allentown Police. "We don't know the extent of the stab wounds but there were multiple stab wounds to the torso."
The motive of the attack is under investigation, but officers believe the highschooler was targeted.
"I'm very concerned about it now knowing about it," shared local mom Jessica. "That it's right close to the park, that it's right close to so many things, you never know what can happen."
Witnesses say it was a group of about four against one, and the attack went on for close to three minutes.
"We've interviewed a number of people that are students that were in the nearby area," added Hanna.
Now investigators are hunting for suspects, who may have been caught arriving then fleeing the scene on surveillance video from a nearby car dealership.
"We have a description of a possible suspect vehicle, that being a Honda Civic or Eclipse, black in color, last seen traveling West on Hanover Avenue from Irving Street," said Hanna.
Investigators tell 69 News the victim is doing okay and should be released from the hospital in the next few days.
