He cut his victim's throat and left her to die, police said.
As 69 News and WFMZ.com first reported Thursday, an Allentown man has been charged in the killing of a woman whose body was found in the woods in Salisbury Twp., Lehigh Co.
We learned more Friday about what the alleged killer, Jonathan Nuñez, copped to.
According to the criminal complaint, Nuñez, 20, admitted he killed Kimberly Cardona, whose body was found near Lanze Lane on July 5.
Nuñez, a Facebook friend of Cardona, was interviewed by investigators on Thursday.
During that interview, Nuñez allegedly told investigators that he and Cardona, 20, drove to the wooded location and got into a fight.
"The defendant admitted to assaulting the victim and subsequently cutting the victim's neck with a knife," according to court records.
Nuñez told police he left Cardona's body in the woods and later returned and poured bleach over her body, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
An autopsy revealed Cardona fought for her life and had defensive wounds on her hand and arms.
"It's a shock what I heard, and no on knew he would do something like that," said Nunez's neighbor, David Snyder.
Nuñez's neighbors said they can't believe what has come out about the homicide or that police would end up in their neighborhood.
"I heard the commotion, and I come out and all of a sudden I see unmarked police cars and detectives from Salisbury and Allentown, and I didn't know really what was going on," said Snyder.
The Cardona family said they are relieved they do know what's going on and that the person police believe is responsible for Cardona's death is now facing charges.
"The way I feel about him right now, it's just like he's locked up. Basically, we can sleep at night right now," said Jerry Cardona, Kimberly's brother, adding that he knows the legal process will take awhile, but no matter what happens, it will not bring his sister back. "It's been like in a pit, just darkness, a pit. It's hard."
Nuñez is being held without bond. He will be in court August 9.
