Alburtis Councilman Kyle Bower charged in damage to field, theft of campaign signs

It was supposed to be his second chance.
Now a councilman in Alburtis, Lehigh County, is on the wrong side of the law once again.
This time around Kyle Bower, 19, could be forced off the council.
One council member tells us that it really looked like Bower made a 180 and was changing for the good.
Now these new charges could put the councilman behind bars.
Back in January 2012, Bower took his seat with the Alburtis Borough Council.
Ten months later, Bower is charged with driving through a farm field and theft.
“It's sad because in the beginning, we told him, 'this is your opportunity,'" said Kathy Palmer, 2nd vice president on the Alburtis Borough Council. "This is your opportunity to show everybody you are willing to do the right thing and you're going to step up to the plate.”
Palmer says that Kyle Bower was on the Parks and Recreation committee and he helped get a street hockey rink in Alburtis.
“He worked on it very diligently," added Palmer. "He went out, he got contributions from people, he did the painting himself. He really was on the right track.”
Bower is currently serving four years probation after pleading guilty to stalking and an escape charge.
Now police records show he stole three campaign signs from the front of a home on Chestnut Street in Alburtis on October 4.
Police say Bower then drove his car through a Lower Macungie soybean field owned by David Jaindl and left it there with two bottles of beer inside.
“It's stupid, it's dumb, it's immature and he shouldn't be able to represent the people of the borough,” said Michael Brancl, an Alburtis resident.
For now Bower is still a member of the council.
It's not clear if he will resign in two weeks at the next meeting.
