Monday, residents in a Northampton County township lashed out against plans to build a FedEx distribution hub.
Residents spoke out during a meeting of the Allen Township Planning Commission.
Residents opposing the project said the 1 to 2 million square foot facility would generate too much traffic and noise.
Supports said the project would create jobs and a new source of tax revenue for the township.
On Tuesday, Allentown officials responded to concerns the city does not have adequate emergency shelter for the homeless.
City officials said the Allentown Rescue Mission has not been at capacity this winter and also noted that no one has been turned away by the Salvation Army during severe weather.
Advocates for the homeless continued to question a policy requiring a voucher from police to stay the Allentown Rescue Mission.
Officials contend that policy is necessary to protect people staying at the Rescue Mission from potentially dangerous individuals.
Wednesday, newly released statistics show the crime rate in Reading is lower than it's been in more than 20 years.
Police Chief Bill Heim creditied the statistics to a crime reduction strategy put in place seven years ago.
According to the data, violent crimes have decreased drastically from 1996, the highest crime rate on record.
But many residents said they don't believe the situation is improving.
On Thursday, a Schuylkill County borough and its controversial police chief reached an apparent agreement.
Gilberton Police Chief Mark Kessler was suspended last summer after allegedly using borough-owned guns in profanity-laced youtube videos that garnered him national attention.
The details of the agreement have yet to be released.
