Monday, Bethlehem won a coveted state designation that's expected to bring thousands of jobs to the city.
Bethlehem was just one of two cities named a "city revitalization and improvement zone."
The state program will allow Bethlehem to use future tax revenue to fund economic development projects.
Reading was one of the cities Bethlehem beat out in the battle for the designation.
On Tuesday, police in Berks County said a 20-year-old college student was arrested for stabbing both his parents, possibly after an argument over bad grades.
Officials said Robert Hausch stabbed his mother and father in the neck Monday in their home on Dover Court in Caernarvon Township.
Both parents were taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.
Hausch is facing attempted homicide and related charges.
Wednesday brought a happy ending for a cat stuck high in an 80-foot tree for more than a day in Berks County.
"Rusty" had been missing for a couple of days before a neighbor noticed him high up in a tree in Rockland Township on Tuesday.
Mine Road was shut down for hours while fire crews scaled a ladder to bring Rusty to safety on Wednesday and reunite him with his owner.
On Thursday, New Jersey State Police made a public call for help to track down a group of thieves targeting homes in Warren County.
The rash of break-ins started back in October. Police said the crooks strike during the day while people are not home.
So far, six arrests have been made -- charges are pending in 10 to 12 cases -- and at least 10 more are still under investigation.
Friday, a 10-year-old boy died after being pulled from a burning home in Reading.
Police said Jesus Valezquez died at Reading Hospital following Friday afternoon's fire in the 1100 block of Elm Street.
The fire has been ruled accidental.
