The Lehigh Valley Conference is expanding by 6, all from the Poconos. The LVC's invitations to MVC schools have been accepted and they'll form an 18-team league starting in 2014.

Teams in the Lehigh Valley Cpmferemce are getting some company from up north.

Wednesday, the merger that's been discussed for several months, if not longer by some, is finally a reality.

The LVC extended invitations to six MVC schools and all have accepted to form an 18-team LVC that will begin competition next year.

The LVC's schools voted 12-0 to invite the six schools which are East Stroudsburg North, East Stroudsburg South, Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East, Pocono Mountain West and Stroudsburg high schools.

Those schools have agreed to join, and now they begin the work of figuring out schedules and divisions and the things that will make an 18-team league functional and one of the state's strongest in most sports.
