18th Lights in the Parkway opens Friday in Allentown

If you tire of shopping on Friday, there's a bright alternative.
On Friday, Allentown's Lehigh Parkway welcomes visitors to the 18th Lights in the Parkway display.
The holiday drive-through light display, set to music, transform more than a mile of one of Allentown's most beautiful parks into a winter wonderland.
Visitors will go through tunnels, animated holiday scenes and more, featuring hundreds of thousands of brilliant lights.
Horse drawn carriage rides will also be offered in the Parkway, by reservation only, at a price of $15 per person.
At the end of the route, visitors are invited to the Gift Barn, featuring fine crafts and unique gift ideas, in addition to hot chocolate and snacks.
Children can also have their picture taken with Santa, who will be at the Gift Barn Wednesday, and Friday-Sunday starting Nov. 29, and ending Dec. 24.
Lights in the Parkway opens over the Thanksgiving holiday, from Friday through Sunday.
The exhibit officially opens to nightly visitors beginning Dec. 6 through Dec. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Admission is $10 per car and a $2 off coupon is available at www.lightsintheparkway.com.

The display is closed Christmas Day.
In addition to the lights display, the city is also sponsoring the 4th annual Lights in the Parkway 5K and walk on Dec. 4.
This event begins at 7 p.m. Participants can register at www.runlehighvalley.com. Space is limited and there will be no race day registration.
