A 13-year old girl from West Lawn is hoping to hit it big in Los Angeles.
Isabel Lacatus started playing the piano at age three, has written more than 40 songs and now she has the opportunity of a lifetime to sign with a major record label.
Her parents say they recognized her potential talent at age three.
"She was pushing those keys down and she was waiting for the sound to be over. That is when we found out she loves sounds," said Isabel's father Dorel Lacatus.
Isabel started taking professional piano lessons at age three, started singing opera at age nine and has already enrolled in the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
"It is very expensive. But when you see a gifted child like this, you go forward and believe in her dream," said Dorel Lacatus.
Among the many competitions Isabel has been a part of, she recently was chosen as one of the top four finalists out of 60,000 entries in the KIDS Star USA Talent Search.
She leaves for Los Angeles later this week.
"I am really really excited. A little nervous. But mostly excited because it is just an amazing experience," said Isabel.
Isabel says competing at this level takes a lot of practice and focus.
"I think basically you have to just learn your song really well and always keep on reminding yourself that you got this far and be really confident in yourself," said Isabel.
She says she is hoping to win the competition, sign on with RCA Records and be able to expose her music to the world.
"I just do the best I can and live my dream," said Isabel.
