FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. -

Twenty-nine-year-old  Hector Figueroa-Santana was kicking, punching, biting, spitting and using obscene language in both English and Spanish when Fountain Hill police arrived in the emergency room of St. Luke's  University Hospital  at 3:36 a.m. Saturday.

Police were called to the hospital's emergency room because a patient was becoming violent toward the ER staff. They heard screaming and yelling when they got to room No. 7.

They found the staff holding Figueroa-Santana down on a hospital bed while he was kicking, punching, screaming obscenities in two languages and threatening to "kick everyone's a--."

One ER nurse told police she was injured when the suspect lunged into her chest with his right shoulder to push her out of his way. A member of Bethlehem Township EMS told police Figueroa-Santana tried to bite his face as he held him down, then spit in his face twice.

The suspect was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

He  is in Lehigh County Prison, unable to post $30,000 bail.

Police reports do not explain why the suspect, who resides on E. 4th St. in Bethlehem, was in the emergency room or why he was so angry.
